Every family has a story and this one is especially dear to my heart. Their home is one of the first I walked into before I decided to move to Columbus and I have enjoyed countless steaming cups of coffee accompanied by the best conversation there. Family doesn’t have to be blood, there is a bond that goes much deeper, a call and choice to love without reservation.
The best words I could use to describe this family are written on the walls of their home:
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me bring love.
Where there is error, let me bring truth.
Where there is doubt, let me bring faith.
Where there is despair, let me bring hope.
Where there is darkness, let me bring your light.
Where there is sadness, let me bring joy.
Phil & Erin along with friend Lori committed to living in a community where they could bring light and along that journey brought a hurting, broken child into their home and showered her with love and made her their own. I get to be part of the next step of their journey together as ADOPTION day approaches later this month!
Theirs is a story of peace-making, of bringing hope into the heart of a child, of filling a home with joy and lighting up a community with their faith.
